Australia’s only solar panel manufacturer, Adelaide-based Tindo Solar, has added an extra later of warranty to its premium PV products, offering $1,000 to customers who make eligible claims that require module replacement.

The Premium Warranty Offer, launched on Thursday, will pay $1000 to the owner of a Tindo panel purchased after November 01, for a valid warranty claim that requires the replacement of a Tindo N-Type PV Module.

Tindo says the first of its kind offer is in addition to the 25-year product warranty on all of the company’s solar panels, that cover parts, transport, removal and reinstallation, should a Tindo solar panel malfunction.

Tindo CEO Richard Petterson says the premium offer gives the Australian made panels stand a point of difference in sea of cheaper and lower quality competitors, and highlights the company’s confidence in their durability, reliability and longevity.

“What we know consumers and our partners are looking for is the peace of mind to install solar panels which are going to stand the test of time, and to perform in our local environment,” Petterson said in a statement on Thursday.

“We know our solar panels can do that, so we decided to further strengthen our commitment to quality in the eyes of the market.”

Tindo recently topped a CHOICE product review of solar panels available in the Australian market, which gave the company’s 410W Karra solar panel a 92% overall ranking ahead of the second-place panel on 80%.

Tindo says the CHOICE review was notable for the fact that its panel was the only one of 18 tested where the power output matched the claim on the nameplate.

“We have always invested in design and engineering, we collaborate with global supply chains and we have significant innovation partnerships with Australia’s best research institutions,” says Petterson.

“Our panels are world-class and we are matching that with revamped aftermarket servicing. The owner of a Tindo panel doesn’t just have worry-free equipment – they also have worry-free aftermarket care.”

In August, Tindo won federal government Solar Sunshot funding to deliver a huge scale-up in production – from 20 megawatts (MW) a year to 180 MW – and to test the water for a future giga-scale plant.

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency awarded the company $34.5 million to renovate and ramp up production at its Mawson Lakes factory in South Australia and expand its product range to include premium N-type modules.
