Chinese solar manufacturer Phono Solar has launched a new solar module in Australia, the new Qasar 475-watt (W) N-type back-contact, dual-glass, bifacial solar module.

Phono and Supply Partners, the exclusive Australian distributor for Phono Solar, announced earlier this month the introduction of the new Quasar 475W solar panel to Australia, which they say boasts proven durability in coastal, hot, and high-wind regions.

The Quasar 475W combines cutting-edge N-type back-contact cell technology with a dual-glass construction for maximum strength and long-term reliability as well as factory-verified salt-corrosion resistance and shading optimisation to ensure output even when parts of a system is under shade.

Back-contact N-type solar panels move the conductors to the rear of the cell to reduce front-side shading and enhance module efficiency and output, boasting module efficiency of 23.27 per cent. The bifacial nature of the panel also means that it can harvest light from both the front and back, boosting power output in bright or reflective environments.

A 2.0mm front glass is paired with a 1.6mm back glass panel, creating a rigid laminate that is supposed to resist micro-cracking, eliminate moisture getting inside, and contribute to overall long-term reliability.

The Quasar 475W has also undergone increased hail-impact and cyclone testing with static load ratings of 5,400 Pa on the front and 2,400 Pa on the rear.

The new solar module also claims a high salt-mist corrosion rating and a temperature coefficient of −0.26%/°C, making it a highly attractive option for seaside installations.

Through Australian-based technical and warranty support, installations of Phono Solar modules are covered by a 30-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance warranty to 88.5 per cent at year 30.

“We believe the new Phono panel is one of the best on the market. Back-contact plus dual-glass and bifacialality isn’t just for show,” said John Degotardi, co-founder of Supply Partners.

“It’s about stronger energy yield in real homes, over decades, with fewer compromises in heat, wind or salt air.

“With a 30-year product and performance warranty for residential systems and local support, Phono is seriously better than similar panels with plastic backsheets.”

The Quasar 475 W will be available for installers to order exclusively from Supply Partners and will be sold nationally via Phono Partners and Phono Premium Partners.
